Aftercare & FAQs
Calm, clear guidance – before and after treatment. Suitability and aftercare are always confirmed in clinic.
Before you book
Do I need a consultation first?
If you know what treatment you would like you can book straight in for this. We will always conduct a consultation prior to undertaking any treatment to ensure suitability. If you are not sure what treatment may address your concerns then starting with a consultation is advised.
What happens during a consultation?
We'll discuss your goals, conduct a skin and facial assessment, and review your medical background. You'll leave with clear recommendations, realistic timelines, and aftercare guidance – tailored to you.
Can I have treatment on the same day if I've booked a consultation?
If you already have a good idea of what you'd like, it's usually best to book in for the treatment directly (we'll still undertake a consultation first). However, some people decide to proceed with a treatment when booked in for a consultation and we are happy to accommodate if possible — this will largely depend on time constraints.
I'm not sure what to book – where should I start?
Start with a consultation. We'll guide you through options including in-clinic treatments and/or medical-grade skincare, if suitable, and recommend a bespoke plan.
Safety & suitability
Are treatments safe?
Safety is the top priority at Bashra Aesthetics. Treatments undertaken are performed with the safest techniques, using premium products sourced through authorised UK pharmacies and stockists.
Who isn't suitable for treatment?
Suitability depends on the specific treatment and your medical history. Some treatments aren't suitable during pregnancy/breastfeeding or with certain conditions/medications – we'll confirm this in clinic or if you would like specific advice you can send us an enquiry.
What are the risks or side effects?
Most side effects are mild and temporary (e.g. redness, swelling, occasional bruising). We'll explain risks clearly as part of the consent process before carrying out any treatment, and you'll have time to ask any questions.
What should I do if I'm concerned after treatment?
If something doesn't feel right, contact the clinic for advice. We are easily contactable and will always offer support out of hours for urgent queries.
Results & maintenance
When will I see results?
This depends on the treatment. Some results are immediate (e.g. fillers), while others take days or weeks (e.g. Botox/anti-wrinkle, skin quality treatments). We'll discuss this with you prior to any treatment.
How long do results last?
Longevity varies by treatment area and other individual factors – typically from a few months, to over a year. We'll talk through realistic timelines and maintenance options prior to treatment.
How often are top-ups needed?
Many treatments benefit from maintenance to keep results consistent and long term. Bespoke advice for long term maintenance, if applicable, will be offered following treatment.
Will I still look like myself?
Yes – our aim is always natural, noticeable results that still feel and look like you. We focus on balance, skin health and subtle enhancement, never a "done" look.
Comfort & downtime
Does it hurt?
Most treatments are very well tolerated. Some patients describe a brief pinch or stinging sensation with some injectable treatments. Most of the injectables we use contain lidocaine for added comfort and topical numbing cream is available where needed.
Is there downtime?
Downtime varies by treatment, but most people return to normal activities the same day. Mild swelling, redness or occasional bruising can occur – we'll guide you on what to expect.
When can I return to normal activities?
Usually straight away, with a few simple precautions (e.g. avoiding strenuous exercise or heat for a short period of time). Your aftercare will be confirmed during your appointment and via email following treatment.
Can I fly after treatment?
In most cases yes, but timing can vary depending on the treatment. We'll advise what's best for you prior to treatment.
Aftercare essentials
Personalised aftercare is provided in clinic.
What should I avoid after treatment?
Aftercare is treatment-specific, but common guidance includes avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive heat (sauna/hot yoga), and touching the treated area. You'll receive personalised aftercare both in clinic and via email following treatment.
What's normal in the first 24–48 hours?
Mild redness, swelling, tenderness or small bumps can be normal depending on the treatment. These usually settle quickly – we'll explain what's expected for your treatment during the consent process.
What if I have a query after treatment?
If you have any questions or concerns after treatment, please contact us anytime via phone, email or message. For any urgent queries we will always respond promptly. Non urgent queries outside of business hours will be responded to within working hours.
Pricing & booking
Where can I see prices?
You can view pricing on our Pricing page and the treatment menu on our booking link. If you're unsure which treatment is right for you, a consultation is the best starting point.
Why does pricing vary by area or plan?
Some treatments vary based on the area treated and the amount of product needed. We'll confirm the best approach and set clear costs prior to any treatment.
Do you offer consultations?
Yes – consultations are available and strongly recommended, especially if you're unsure what to book. We'll assess suitability and recommend options tailored to you.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
All appointments are subject to a £50 deposit fee. Deposits are non refundable. This will be deducted from your treatment on the day. In the case of late cancellations or no shows, T&Cs apply.
- If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, your deposit will remain on your account and can be used within a 12 month period against any future service.
- Cancellations within 24 hours or less, or not attending your appointment will incur a fee of 50% of the treatment cost.
- You can reschedule your appointment up to 48 hours ahead of the appointment time.
Medical considerations
Can I have treatment if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Injectable treatments are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, some medical-grade skincare options may be suitable – we can advise further during your consultation.
Can I have treatment if I'm on medication?
In many cases, yes. We'll review your medical history and medications during consultation and advise what's safe for you.
Is there a minimum age for treatment?
Injectable treatments are for adults only (over 18). For younger patients, medical-grade skincare may be appropriate for concerns such as acne – suitability will be discussed in clinic.
Medical-grade skincare
What's the difference between medical-grade skincare and over-the-counter products?
Medical-grade skincare uses clinically proven, active ingredients, at higher strengths and may include prescription-only medications. They are scientifically formulated and many have clinical data and studies demonstrating results and efficacy.
Do I need a skincare consultation first?
Yes – skincare plans are bespoke and very individual. Recommendations are tailored to your skin type, and goals. A consultation ensures you receive the safest routine and correct advice and guidance leading to the best results.
How do I re-order my skincare if I am an existing patient?
Existing skincare patients can re-order through our skincare portal (Clever Patient). You'll receive access after your consultation and can re-purchase products (skincare, SPFs, make up, lash and brow serums and more) delivered directly to you.
